Applications

Slot-die coating is not tied to one material system or one industry. Any functional ink or slurry that can be formulated can be coated. This is why FOM systems are used in fields that share little beyond one requirement: a uniform, reproducible thin film, on rigid substrates or on a flexible web. The application areas below are the fields we work in most often, not a complete list.

Application areas in focus

The areas below are where FOM systems are used most often. They share one requirement: a functional layer deposited at a controlled, repeatable thickness with minimal material loss. Slot-die coating meets it by metering the ink rather than flooding the substrate, so a formulation developed on a few square centimeters transfers to a larger area without being reformulated.

These application areas are examples, not limits. If your field is not listed, our Science & Learning team can assess whether slot-die coating fits your ink or slurry.
