Frequently asked questions
What coating width and speed does the FOM compact moduloR2R support?
FOM compact moduloR2R coats widths from 1 mm to 300 mm on substrates up to 350 mm wide, at speeds from 0.1 to 10 m/min. It accepts substrate roll diameters up to 300 mm, with web tension controlled from 10 to 150 N and a coating angle adjustable from 0 to 90°.
Which slot-die heads fit the FOM compact moduloR2R?
FOM compact moduloR2R is compatible with slot-die heads from FOM SD 25 up to FOM SD 300. Shims and guides are available for adjusting coating width and pattern.
What drying options are available on the FOM compact moduloR2R?
Two oven types are available. The FOM flotation oven handles web widths up to 350 mm over a 1000 mm drying length, with airflow up to 900 m³/h and integrated IR drying as an option. The FOM Optima single web oven offers up to 9 meters of adjustable drying length using hot air ring heaters and 1000 W IR curing lamps. Both reach up to 200 °C, with PT100-based temperature control on the flotation oven. An air knife system and an IR system are available as additional drying and curing options.
What does the FOM compact moduloR2R need to be installed?
Modules measure 2266 mm wide and 1963 mm high, with lengths of 600 mm for the unwind and rewind modules and 1000 mm for the oven module. Each module weighs between 300 and 800 kg. The machine requires a 3-phase 400 V + N + PE supply at 63 A for the web handling system and 25 A per oven, compressed air at 0.6 MPa delivering 2 m³/h, and an Ethernet connection over RJ45. Oven ventilation needs roughly 100 m³/h inlet and 200 m³/h exhaust per oven, connected via internal Ø100 mm ducting.
What environments can the FOM compact moduloR2R operate in?
The machine operates between 0 and 40 °C and is compatible with clean room, dry room, and noble gas environments. A machine enclosure is available as an option.
Can the FOM compact moduloR2R be expanded after installation?
Yes. The system is built from separate unwind, oven, and rewind modules, and a broad range of pre- and post-coating options and metrology add-ons can be integrated. Available equipment includes an ionizing bar, blade coating, flexographic and comma bar systems, and — with an extension module — a slitting station and thickness measurement.
Does the FOM compact moduloR2R meet European machine safety standards?
FOM compact moduloR2R is built to EN 60204-1 and ISO 13849-1 (CE) and complies with Directive 2006/42/EC Annex II B.
