Frequently asked questions
What coating width does the FOM omegaR2R support?
FOM omegaR2R coats widths from 1 mm to 300 mm on webs up to 320 mm wide, at speeds from 0.1 to 5.0 m/min. It accepts roll diameters up to 250 mm on a 75 mm pneumatic expanding mandrel, with web tension controlled from 10 to 80 N.
Which slot-die heads fit the FOM omegaR2R?
FOM omegaR2R is compatible with slot-die heads from FOM SD 25 up to FOM SD 300. Shims and meniscus guides are available for adjusting coating width and pattern.
What drying options are available on the FOM omegaR2R?
Drying is handled by tool-free interchangeable oven modules in 250 mm and 500 mm sections, up to 2 meters of drying in total. Modules are available as hot air, infrared, ultraviolet, and combined hot air/IR. Hot air ovens reach up to 180 °C, and slot-die head heating runs up to 80 °C.
What does the FOM omegaR2R need to be installed?
The standard configuration measures 680 × 895 × 1570 mm (H × W × L) and weighs 265 kg. It requires a 3-phase 400 V supply at 50/60 Hz with a maximum current of 24 A, compressed air at 5–7 bar (clean, dry, non-lubricated, ISO 8573-1:2010 Class 1.2.3 or better) via a Ø6 mm push-fit connection, and an Ethernet connection over RJ45.
Can the FOM omegaR2R be expanded after installation?
Yes. The machine is built on a modular platform with 250 mm and 500 mm extension modules, adding 25 kg and 37 kg respectively. Oven modules are tool-free and interchangeable, so drying configuration can change as research needs change.
Does the FOM omegaR2R meet European machine safety standards?
FOM omegaR2R is built to EN 60204-1 and ISO 13849-1 (CE), complies with Directive 2006/42/EC Annex II B, and its electrical panel is built to UL508A.
