- Optional slot-die head heating to 80 °C
System overview
The FOM SD 100 coats widths from 1 mm to 100 mm and fits all current FOM coating machines except the photonR2R, so a formulation developed on one system can run on another with the same head.
The shim sets the coating width and the stripe pattern, and the meniscus guide stabilizes the bead. Low dead volume keeps material loss small when inks are expensive or available only in small quantities.

Frequently asked questions
What coating width does the FOM SD 100 support?
The FOM SD 100 coats widths from 1 mm to 100 mm. The width is set by the shim, so one head covers the full range.
Which FOM machines is the FOM SD 100 compatible with?
The FOM SD 100 fits the FOM nanoRC, scalarSC, vectorSC, alphaSC, omicronR2R, omegaR2R, compact moduloR2R and moduloR2R.
What viscosities can the FOM SD 100 handle?
The head is rated from 1 cP to more than 100,000 cP at 25 °C and is available in standard and high viscosity versions. The practical upper limit also depends on the pump and fluid delivery system of the machine.
What is the FOM SD 100 made of?
The head is machined from stainless steel and chemically passivated. Shims and meniscus guides are cut from stainless steel. For chemistries that attack stainless steel, the PEEK series is the alternative.
Can the FOM SD 100 be heated?
Yes. Slot-die head heating to 80 °C is available as an option.
Can the FOM SD 100 coat stripes?
Yes. Patterned shims produce stripes and discrete coating areas. Standard, custom and bespoke patterns are available.
