System overview
The FOM SD 200 coats widths from 1 mm to 200 mm and fits the FOM scalarSC, vectorSC and alphaSC sheet coaters and the omicronR2R, omegaR2R, compact moduloR2R and moduloR2R roll-to-roll lines, so a formulation developed on one system can run on another with the same head.
The shim sets the coating width and the stripe pattern, and the meniscus guide stabilizes the bead. Low dead volume keeps material loss small when inks are expensive or available only in small quantities.

Frequently asked questions
What coating width does the FOM SD 200 support?
The FOM SD 200 coats widths from 1 mm to 200 mm. The width is set by the shim, so one head covers the full range.
Which FOM machines is the FOM SD 200 compatible with?
The FOM SD 200 fits the FOM scalarSC, vectorSC, alphaSC, omicronR2R, omegaR2R, compact moduloR2R and moduloR2R.
What viscosities can the FOM SD 200 handle?
The head is rated from 1 cP to more than 100,000 cP at 25 °C and is available in standard and high viscosity versions. The practical upper limit also depends on the pump and fluid delivery system of the machine.
What is the FOM SD 200 made of?
The head is machined from stainless steel and chemically passivated. Shims and meniscus guides are cut from stainless steel. For chemistries that attack stainless steel, the PEEK series is the alternative.
Can the FOM SD 200 be heated?
Yes. Slot-die head heating to 80 °C is available as an option.
Can the FOM SD 200 coat stripes?
Yes. Patterned shims produce stripes and discrete coating areas. Standard, custom and bespoke patterns are available.
